Normal & crosswind takeoff

Normal & crosswind takeoff

-For figure follow traffic pattern figure No. (1).

-On the hold-short line do Pre-Takeoff Checks.

-Mixture rich

-Before crossing hold-bars, check for traffic on downwind, base, or final.

-Add power to line up plane to center line.

-After lining up add Full Power.

-If you have crosswind deflect full yoke to wind direction.

-Use right rudder to compensate left turning tendency of nose (to keep plane on the center line).

-Now (If crosswind you have) release yoke deflection with gradually increasing rolling speed.

-When rolling speed reaches Vr=55 KIAS, apply elevator backpressure by pulling yoke.

-Now apply more right rudder for compensate adverse yow & aileron deflection for maintain straight path over runway.

-Pitch for Vy=74 KIAS for best rate of climb.

-Maintain straight ground path until you reach 500 ft above AGL, then after you can turn to desire heading.

PTS Standards:

Aligned with centerline; Vy +10/-5 kts; corrects for crosswind throughout climb; completes the appropriate checklists.

Traffic Pattern (Left)

Entry:-

-Descend to 2000ft AGL from 5 miles away from the runway.

-Descend to 1000ft AGL from 3 miles away from the runway.

-Set Cruise RPM such as maintain 100 KIAS & trim for it.

-Direct heading to a beam of the midpoint of the runway at 45°.

-Report to tower on entry.

-Keep distance ½ or 1 mile from the runway.

No. (5):-

-After entering in downwind leg pull throttle to 2200-2100 RPM.

-Set Cruise RPM such as maintain 100 KIAS & trim for it.

-Apply WCA left or right depending on wind direction.

i.e. KTKI=McKinney RW 17,35

KTKI ******Z 13009G14KT

In this case wind correction angle is 4° right for Downwind leg 17.

-GUMPS Check

G-Gas

U-Under Carriage

M-mixture

P-Propeller Controls

S-Seat belts

-Landing lights-ON.

-Strobe lights-ON.

No. (6):-

-When you reach to exactly 90° to the threshold pull power back to 1500 RPM.

-let slightly nose down & then apply 10° of flaps (Below 110 KIAS).

-Airspeed 90 KIAS.

No. (7):-

-When you reach to exactly 45° to the threshold turn to left. Should be steep turn (30°) because you facing tailwind.

-Airspeed 80 KIAS.

-Apply WCA only left.

i.e. KTKI=McKinney RW 17,35

KTKI ******Z 13009G14KT

In this case wind correction angle is 6° left for Base leg 17.

No. (8):-

-When you see runway no. at 10’o clock start you turn to left. Should be Normal turn (20°) because you facing tail+left wind.

-Airspeed 70 KIAS.

-Remain on glide slop by “Pitch for Airspeed/Power for Altitude”.

No. (9):-

-Apply WCA left or right depending on wind direction.

i.e. KTKI=McKinney RW 17,35

KTKI ******Z 13009G14KT

In this case wind correction angle is 6° left for Final leg 17.

-Apply opposite rudder over 10ft of the ground to keep longitudinal axis straight.

-See windsock for exact idea.

No. (1’):-

-Flairing….

No. (2’):- (Only for Touch & Gos).

- If you have crosswind Aileron Full deflection in to the wind.

-Apply Full throttle.

-Flaps UP.

-Apply WCA left or right depending on wind direction.

i.e. KTKI=McKinney RW 17,35

KTKI ******Z 13009G14KT

In this case wind correction angle is 6° left for Up wind leg 17.

No. (3):-

-Maintain straight ground path until you reach 500 ft above AGL, then after you can turn to Cross wind leg.

-Maintain Vy=74 KIAS.

No. (4):-

-When you reach to exactly 45° to the threshold (this time opposite RW 35) turn to left. Should be steep turn (30°) because you facing tailwind.

-When you finish your climb up to 1000 ft AGL, go to cruise setting as No. (5).
